Taipei, Taiwan 4th of January 2016.
Netberg unveils two Cluster-in-a-Box (CiB) appliances for the storage and SMB markets. Netberg Demos R430 M2 700TB 70-bay 4U system and Demos R420 M2 12/24-bay all-flash-optimized 2U server are High Availability (HA) dual node clusters with 12G SAS technology behind.
Microsoft introduced cluster-in-a-Box (CiB) idea along with Windows 2012 launch, it’s a simplified clustering technology designed to provide a redundant, and failover environment is a single enclosure. Traditional High Availability designs were based on complex and costly SAN architectures, while the new CiB paradigm can leverage Microsoft Windows HA function with the built-in Storage Spaces functionality with advanced capabilities like storage tiers, SSD caching, deduplication, etc.
Since that time, Netberg experts also expanded that idea to the GNU/Linux world with ZFS as storage foundation. Feature-rich software stack and outstanding performance fueled true software-defined storage revolution.
The third option is Raidix, a high-performance SAN and NAS storage system software. With patented RAID calculation algorithms, it is tailored to fit industry-specific data storage needs in three diverse sectors: Media and Entertainment, Healthcare, and High-Performance Computing (HPC).
Netberg challenging old technology with the introduction of Demos R420 M2 and R430 M2, the purpose-built CiB servers that overcome legacy SAN designs with dense footprints, reduced cost of ownership and unprecedented performance
The Demos R420 M2 is available in two configurations – 12x 3.5” and 24x 2.5” drive bays. First one is suitable for small business with the demand for HA environment and high storage capacity while the second option can deliver almost two million IOPS in all-flash configuration with latest 12G SSD drives. Dual Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 V3 series and up to 1TB of DDR4 memory match all-flash performance to provide truly software defined storage.
The Demos R430 M2 offers unparalleled storage capacity and performance with 70 3.5” 12G SAS bays and support for hybrid SSD/HDD configurations. Server nodes can handle the most demanding applications with two Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 V3, up to 1TB of DDR4 memory, and strong IO features. It helps to save up to 30% of rack space over traditional dual server and JBOD designs.
Each system has two independent server nodes within a single enclosure along with shared storage area. The Demos R420 M2 use internal 10G Ethernet link for failover function while the Demos R430 M2 rely on additional PCIe slot for dedicated connection between nodes. In the case of one node failure, the system will failover to the second node to avoid downtime and service disruption. Storage capacity and performance can be expanded via additional JBODs.
