Netberg, the leading provider of open networking solutions, announces support of Ubuntu 24.04 Noble Numbat on its Broadcom-enabled portfolio.
Since 2016, Ubuntu has served as the primary OS for developing custom network applications on Netberg platforms. The traditional networking ecosystem is very conservative and relies on closed NOS distributions with vendor support on security and monitoring.
Moving on to running networking applications on a general-purpose OS changes this approach to treat a network switch as any other server.
Netberg has updated Ubuntu support to 24.04 on its recently launched data center platforms to keep up with security updates and avoid red flags from security teams. This update spans 1G, 10G, 25G, 100G, and 400G programmable switches.
